It was announced that Lohan, 25, would be hosting the March 3 episode which will feature musical guest Jack White, best known for being half of the former rock duo "The White Stripes." The video features Lohan and "SNL" cast member Kenan Thompson engaging in playful banter.
In the promo, the actress says she's been living in the studio since her last hosting gig, earns the honor of receiving the "Cute Cats 2012 calendar" and even jokes that people could h! ave used more information about her - "and maybe ever a picture or two." The actress has been in and out of jail since a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine conviction but has been praised in recent probation hearings.
Thompson jokes about "Lindsanity," a term used by bloggers such as Perez Hilton and a pun related to media hype surrounding NBA star Jeremy Lin, and receives a pie from Lohan.
This marks the actress' fourth return to the prestigious stage, with Lohan having hosted the sketch comedy show three times - in 2004, 2005 and 2006. "Saturday Night Live" airs on Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
Lohan also recently talked about her "clean and sober" life in an interview with "The Today Show." The episode airs Thursday, March 1, and features the actress sitting down with co-host Matt Lauer talking about how she is a "homebody" who doesn't frequent the Hollywood scene anymore.
"That's not my thing anymore. I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable," she said. "Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn't fun for me. I've become more of a homebody. And I like that."
Lohan's public image is on the mend. The actress received another glowing report about her probation on February 22, after more than four years of legal turmoil.
The starlet is known for her early work in films such as "Freaky Friday," "Mean Girls" and "Confessions of Teenage Drama Queen." The troubled actress went on to star in films such as "Herbie Fully Loaded" and "Georgia Rule," though she began facing public troubles with alcohol and substance abuse in late 200! 5.
The actress realizes that it will take a lot more for people in the industry to trust her commitment to work.
"I think that takes time. And I think that it's actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself," Lohan said, "you know, with 'SNL,' being on time, being, you know, keeping my can't say the word but stuff together."
Lohan is also expected to take on the role in another Hollywood legend, Elizabeth Taylor, in a Lifetime movie. A source close to the matter confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com that early discussions about the project have been carried out. No air date has been set for the film and no other actors have been named as potential cast members.
"We're in the middle of casting and figuring-- we start production soon," Lohan told Lauer. "I've been doing tons of research. But I've always kind of researched her. She's always been a fascinating woman to me. So I'm really honored. And I will not let anyone down, especially myself."
"I could see where it could be scary for people to invest in me. And I don't want people to have that reason to be scared anymore," the actress later said. "So being able to have this opportunity with 'SNL' and the film, I'm gonna do what I'm supposed to do, and enjoy doing it, and do it as best as I can."
