Woody Allen Thinks Lindsay Lohan Has Oscar Potential

Lindsay Lohan may have been in the press recently for all the wrong reasons - again - but it seems as if Hollywood veteran, Woody Allen, is still a huge fan of the actress...

The legendary director was spotted wining and dining the 'Mean Girls' star in New York last month and, after tongues were set to wagging with rumours of a movie collaboration, Woody Allen has since explained that his reasons for meeting with LiLo were purely social.

During the premiere of his new film, 'To Rome With Love', Woody Allen told Access Hollywood that, while he currently isn't considering Lindsay for a movie role, he considers her a VERY talented actress:

"I wouldn't hesitate to use her in a movie because she's a very talented girl."

He's OBVIOUSLY seen her amazing portrayal of Cady Harris in hit flick 'Mean Girls', hasn't he?

The director went on to say that, despite all of Lohan's baggage (i.e. her stints in prison and rehab), he wouldn't hesitate to use her in a movie:

"If there was some legal reason I couldn't [cast her], that would be a different story, but it would not concern me personally, no. I think that she'd be just fine and she'd do a great job... As I say, she's a very gifted girl and I would not hesitate. If I had something for her, I'd certainly call her."

Interesting.

According to Showbiz Spy, a source close to the star explained that Woody Allen truly believes that LiLo has Oscar potential:

They talked about an idea to work together and Woody is very excited about what lies ahead for her. Hes saying that shell win an Oscar by the time shes 30 if she even does half the things she set out to do.

We wonder if Woody Allen's praise ! will hav e the desired effect for Lindsay Lohan and get those movie offers rolling in?
