Lindsay Lohan Drama The Canyons Gets A New Retro Trailer [Video]
Director Paul Schraders The Canyons, which stars Lindsay Lohan and porn actor James Deen, is gearing up for release sometime next year. As such, a new trailer has found its way online, though its a little different than what you may have expected. Instead of giving viewers a straightforward preview of the troubled actress potential comeback, the filmmakers have opted for a grindhouse version of the films teaser trailer.
According to Cinema Blend, The Canyons was written by American Psycho scribe Bret Easton Ellis. True to form, Ellis latest endeavor finds the author chronicling the misadventures of several twenty-somethings who really seem to enjoy sex and drugs. Not surprisingly, it doesnt seem to take very long for things to go completely awry.
Slash Film describes the film as follows:
The Canyons is a contemporary L.A. noir from director Paul Schrader, writer Bret Easton Ellis, and producer Braxton Pope about the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young peo! ple in t heir 20s and how one chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence.
Although the film features a number of talented players, including director Gus Van Zant and House at the End of the Street alum Nolan Gerard Funk, The Canyons doesnt have a distribution deal or a release date as of this writing. Hollywood veteran Paul Schrader is no slouch, either, having written and directed a number of classic films. Surely this flick will find a home before too long.
Despite the buzz Lindsay Lohans performance in the film is generating, its James Deens turn in The Canyons that had Schrader singing the actors praises during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Hes charismatic. Why do people look at Tom Cruise and not someone who looks just like Tom Cruise? He has that special something, the director explained.
The retro trailer for The Canyons is embedded below. Do you think the film could serve as Lindsay Lohans big comeback?
