Claus Hjelmbak - who was present on the night the actress was allegedly assaulted at the W Hotel in New York - told E! News that the troubled star has been let down by those around her.

"It's not because of health issues," Hjelmbak explained. "She's not in a good place, because people around her keep throwing her under the bus."
Referring to the hotel incident, he continued: "Lindsay is a sweet girl, and is very open and nice when people come over and talk.
"In this case, she thought [Christian LaBella] was somebody her friends know."
Hjelmbak insisted that everything on the evening of September 30 was fine until Lohan noticed LaBella had secretly been taking photos of her on his phone.

"She was visibly shaken already at that point," he said, echoing Lohan's recollection of events. "She was shocked ... You feel betrayed when you are in a private space and you realise someone has documented the entire night on the phone."
Hjelmbak stated that there were no drugs involved in the build-up to the reported altercation, and was unsure if ! Lohan had even had "a drink or two".
"[People should] look at her art, and stop focusing so much on her private life," he added.
"That would be a big help to her getting back to a really good place."
Lohan's latest production, the Lifetime Elizabeth Taylor biopic Liz & Dick, will air on Sunday, November 25 at 9pm ET on the cable network.
