Movie Roundup: First Look at Lindsay Lohan and James Deen in 'The Canyons'
Will The Canyons Bring Back Lindsay Lohan's Career? All parties involved have a lot riding on The Canyons, a neo-noir thriller set in the hills of L.A. The film represents Lindsay Lohan's latest attempt to get her career back on track. Porn star James Deen is hoping it can get him cast in movies where he gets to keep his pants on. And Bret Easton Ellis is out to prove he's still a relevant screenwriter.
Will the finished product do all these things? The answer's not in this Grindhouse-esque clip, which teases plenty of sex, a little drug use and a few violent acts, but uses zero dialogue.
DVD/Blu-Ray ReleasesSci-fi fans get a double dose of alien awesomeness this week as Prometheus and the 30th anniversary edition of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial! em> both arrive on Blu-Ray. The latter includes director's commentary with Steven Spielberg and a number of deleted scenes. But if UFOs aren't your cup of tea, you may prefer to sing along with a shirtless Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages or nerdy florist Rick Moranis in Little Shop of Horrors.Anne Hathaway Teams Up with Mindy KalingAnne Hathaway has signed on as the lead in The Low Self-Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie, a romantic-comedy penned by Mindy Kaling and writing partner Brent Forrester. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "the story centers on a woman whose lack of self-worth has limited her choice in men to losers." It's a common theme for Kaling, whose standup comedy, new hit TV show, and book, Is Everyone Hanging Out WIthout Me?, all find humor in romantic struggles and social awkwardness (ironic considering Kaling's having a banner year.)

Here's the Trailer for That Other Osama bin Laden MovieBefore Kathryn Bigelow's much-anticipated Zero Dark Thirty hits theaters this December, the National Geographic Channel is trying to beat the Oscar-winning director to the punch by releasing a TV movie about the Seal Team Six takedown of the world's most wanted terrorist. Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden is NatGeo's first foray into scripted filmmaking, for which they've teaming up with the Weinstein Company and Bigelow's Hurt Locker producer Nicolas Chartier.
While Zero Dark Thirty looks like a far superior piece of filmmaking thanks to an all-star cast and expansive budget, the NatGeo version isn't exactly phoning it in. With the qualification that this is a made-for-TV movie, the action sequences are actually pretty slick. The film, whi! ch debuts! two days before the election, stars Cam Gigandet, Freddy Rodriguez, Xzibit, William Fichtner, and Eddie Kaye Thomas (the guy who played Shit-break in the American Pie franchise.)
New Movie Posters: Anthony Hopkins Becomes Alfred HitchcockSir Anthony Hopkins is nearly unrecognizable as Alfred Hitchcock in the promo posters for the film bearing the famous director's name. Hitchcock is being billed as a love story, which is ironic considering it centers on his time making Psycho. The love story in question is that of Hitch and Alma, his wife of 53 years and his rock during the tumultuous year of filming the horror classic. Helen Mirren plays Alma, and, as you'll see in the poster on the right, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Biel get to recreate old Hollywood glam as Janet Leigh and Vera Miles, respectively.(Photo: Fox Searchlight)
Retro Hour with Wreck-It Ralph Nostalgia factory Disney has released a fake retro ad for Wreck-It Ralph designed to tug on the heartstrings of 30-something gamers. Arcades may never come back into vogue, but if you squint your eyes while watching this ad (or playing the game) it's like 1982 all over agai! n.
Martin McDonagh: I've been working on this film (Seven Psychopaths) for two straight years, I just want beach vacations and loads of sex.
Sam Rockwell: I concur... beach vacations and lots of sex, I'm actually going to be on the same beach (laughs).
After more than two years of creative bargaining, the deal includes a release date (Thanksgiving 2015) to coincide with a couple important Peanuts' anniversaries: the comic strip's 65th and A Charlie Brown Christmas' 50th. Steve Martino (Ice Age: Continental Drift) will direct a script penned by Craig Schulz (Charles' son), Brian Schulz (Charles' grandson), and Cornelius Uliano.(United Features Syndicate)Contrib! uting Edi! tors:Joe Robberson,Adam Wenger,Darrick Thomas
