Lindsay Lohan Delighted As The Canyons Wins A Reprieve
Lindsay Lohan has expressed her joy after her latest movie The Canyons finally landed a cinema distribution deal amid fears the film was heading straight to Dvd.
The erotic thriller, written by American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis, was on the verge of becoming a major flop when it was denied screening slots at a number of film festivals last year (12), with organisers of Texas' South by Southwest (Sxsw) rejecting it over "quality issues".
However, executives at Ifc Films have now acquired the North American rights to the movie and are making plans to release it in cinemas this summer (13), prompting a delighted response from Lohan.
In a post on Twitter.com, she writes, "Yay! For The Canyons and thank you to Ifc!!!!"
Ellis adds in a statement, "Finally the movie will be able to be seen and viewers can judge for themselves rather than relying on the undeservedly snarky press The Canyons has received so far... The Canyons, regardless of what you think of it, is an example of the next step in what will now be the future of post-theatrical feature-length content."
