Lindsay Lohan plea deal in works amid claims she smelled of alcohol at crash scene
Lindsay Lohan may avoid jail time as prosecutors hammer out a plea deal for the actress June car crash case, despite a new report that she may have smelled of alcohol at the scene.
TMZs police sources said that Lohans breath allegedly smelled of alcohol. There were previous reports that a bottle of alcohol was also found at the scene. TMZ reports that the cops did not perform a field sobriety test at the scene of the crash.
Amid the new claims, the Santa Monica City Attorney is said to be willing to offer the star a plea bargain which would include 60-days in a residential rehab facility.

According to the gossip site, the plea bargain also stipulates that LiLo attend AA meetings and undertakes community service, although she might be able to complete the work in New York should she accept the deal.
A plea bargain meeting is said to be taking place today.

AP reports that Lohans lawyer Mark Heller has suggested to prosecutors that the actress serve as a motivational speaker and perform non-jail activities to resolve her latest criminal case, according to a letter to the court.
The letter proposes several alternatives for Lohan, who could be sent to jail for up to 245 days if a judge determines her actions in a traffic crash violated terms of her probation in a previous theft case.
His letter states that Lohans turbulent home life has deeply impacted her and requires a different approach in the case.
The actress plans to spend time recording public service announcements and make periodic visits to schools, hospitals and other venues where she may provide inspirational talks, encouraging children to pursue positive goals and avoid bad habits, states the letter filed on Friday and released by the court Tuesday.
Heller also proposed the establishment of a nonprofit foundation in Lohans name to benefit young people.
The actress has made a commitment to herself to elevate her life and participate in activities which will advance her desire to lead a model life, Heller wrote in a motion seeking a delay in the case that returns to court on Friday. Trial is now set for March 18.
