Lindsay Lohan 's dad returns to court today

Lindsay Lohan's estranged father will be back in a Tampa courtroom today.

Michael Lohan, 51, is scheduled to appear before Judge Walter Heinrich at 1:30 p.m. for an arraignment hearing.

Lohan's attorney, Michael Perry, said he has entered a plea of not guilty for his client.

Lohan was arrested Oct. 25, accused of beating his on-again, off-again girlfriend Kate Major. At a first appearance hearing the next day, Heinrich set bail at $5,000 and cautioned Lohan against having any contact with Major, a former reporter for The Star tabloid.

"You even dream of her," Heinrich told Lohan, "and you're going to jail."

Lohan walked out of jail at 6 p.m. that day. Hours later, Major said he violated the terms of his release when he called her cell phone. When police went to arrest Lohan at his room at the Tahitian Inn on South Dale Mabry Highway, he tried to run away, according to an arrest report.

Lohan attempted to flee by going on the roof and jumping to another balcony next to his third-floor room, police said. Instead, he fell 34 feet and injured his foot, the report said.

On Oct. 29, after Lohan's second arrest for violating the terms of his release, a judge denied him bail.

Lohan was in a Sarasota courtroom on Tuesday for a brief hearing regarding Major's request for a restraining order. Both Lohan and Major agreed to a permanent injunction that would prevent Lohan from contacting her and that would keep him at least 500 feet away from her.

Major has some legal troubles of her own. On Monday, she was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport after she hit an employee who was escorting her from the plane.

Major, 28, was denied boarding because she was intoxicated, authorities said. She was charged with battery and taken to the airport police station fo! r proces sing.

Major was issued a release from custody citation and scheduled to appear in court at a later date, police said.

Meanwhile, Lohan's troubled daughter was released from a California jail on Monday, less than five hours after she arrived to serve a 30-day sentence for violating probation.

Lindsay Lohan was booked into the Century Regional Detention facility in Lynwood at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, in what was expected to be a short stay because of jail overcrowding. It was Lohan's fifth jail sentence since being arrested twice for drunken driving in 2007.

Her brief return to jail came after the "Mean Girls" actress completed an interview and photo shoot for Playboy magazine that will appear in the January/February issue, her publicist said.
