The Mean Girls actress was sued by Nevada salon Tanning Vegas last year after allegedly failing to pay her $40,000 (25,465) bill.
A judge later ordered Lohan to hand over the money, but TMZ claims that she has not yet paid the salon anything.
Tanning Vegas is now thought to be hoping to move the case to California, so that Lohan's assets can be used to pay the money.
Lohan's representatives have not yet commented on the reports.
The actress recently settled a battery case with a member of the Betty Ford Centre and has not been charged for an alleged hit-and-run earlier this year.
She will star as Elizabeth Taylor in upcoming Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick, which will feature True Blood's Grant Bowler in the role of Richard Burton.
