Report: Lindsay Lohan settles lawsuit with Betty Ford Center employee

RANCHO MIRAGE Actress Lindsay Lohan has reportedly settled a lawsuit with the now-fired Betty Ford employee who claimed Lohan assaulted her.

Lohan paid an undisclosed amount of money as part of the settlement, the celebrity website TMZ.com reported Monday.

The reported settlement stems from a Dec. 12, 2010, complaint that Lohan attacked employee Dawn Holland at a Betty Ford Center halfway house in Rancho Mirage.

Lohan, who had checked into the Betty Ford Center on Sept. 27 by court order, returned to the halfway house late for her curfew early that morning.

Holland ordered Lohan and two other patients who tried to sneak back into the facility to take breathalyzer tests, according to reports at the time.

When Lohan picked up the phone to call police, Holland picked up another extension.

The "Mean Girls" star then ripped the phone out of the employee's hand, causing a severe wrist sprain, Holland alleged in a TMZ.com video at the time.

Investigators based in Palm Desert recommended a misdemeanor battery charge against Lohan.

Riverside County prosecutors did not find sufficient evidence against Lohan, though, and she was not criminally charged.

The Betty Ford Center fired Holland on Dec. 21 for violating patient confidentiality.

It was the first time in center history that a staffer has been fired for violating a patient's confidentiality, center spokesman Russ Patrick told The Desert Sun at the time.
