Lindsay Lohan reacts to half-sister news,' talks 'Liz & Dick' (Video)

Lindsay Lohan says she was unaware of her father's recent on-screen shocker about fathering a child, her half-sister, 17 years ago out of wedlock until she was asked about it on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday, November 16.

Michael Lohan had appeared on NBC's "Trisha Goddard Show" in an episode that aired a day earlier, along with the teenage girl, Ashley, and her mother, with whom he had had a sexual relationship while he was still married to Lindsay's mother, ex-wife Dina. The results of a DNA test allegedly proving he is Ashley's father were revealed in front of the three.

Michael, who has a rocky relationship with Lindsay, has four children with Dina and a baby on the way with his new girlfriend. When asked on "GMA" about the televised revealing of her long-lost half-sister, Lindsay said: "I didn't even hear that so thanks for the news. I don't listen ... I don't pay attention to any of it."

The 26-year-old actress has herself dominated entertainment news headlines over the past few years due to personal turmoil, making her one of several favorite targets for the paparazzi, who follow her constantly.

In March, a judge ruled that Lohan has fulfilled all her probation requirements stemming from a 2007 DUI and cocaine possession case, which had stalled her acting career. She has served six stints in jail, which have lasted less than two weeks in total, as well as 35 days under house arrest, and also spent 250 days in five rehab facilities to treat drug and alcohol addiction, CNN reported.

Lindsay began acting when she was 3. She earned praise for her performances in films such as the 1998 remake of "The Parent Trap," the 2003 family comedy "Freaky Friday" and what has become a cult film for older teenagers and young adults - the 2004 teen comedy "Mean Girls."

She went on to star in films such as "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and "Just My Luck" with Chris Pine and had a recurring guest role on the ABC show "Ugly Betty," but "Mean Girls" remains her most recent monster hit. Lindsey was asked on "GMA" if she thought her career would have been different without the constant media scrutiny.

"Obviously, yes, to certain extents, but I think that everyone goes through things in life and I like to learn from my mistakes, obviously," she said. "But I wouldn't be who I am today if I hadn't gone through certain things and everything happens for a reason - good or bad - so you can just take what you've learned from it and move forward."

Lindsay appeared on "GMA" in a chick black and white outfit, complete with black platform ankle boots (see photos) The red-headed actress is currently promoting her newest project - a Lifetime Television movie called "Liz & Dick," which sees her play Hollywood legend ! sex icon ! Elizabeth Taylor, who died at age 79 in 2011 from congestive heart failure.

"I had seen that they were going to be making the movie and I got the producer's number and started harassing [Executive Producer] Larry Thompson and I didn't even care if my agents were going to do it or not - I just did it myself too because I was like, 'No one else is going to play this role. I have to do this,'" Lindsay said on "GMA."

Taylor had also battled substance abuse throughout her life and she and Lindsay both underwent treatment at the famed Betty Ford rehab Clinic in California.

"Yeah, I think that, just as Elizabeth Taylor did, there was a time when I was just doing so much work constantly and I kind of had that moment where ... I was like, 'Do I really love doing this?'" Lindsay said. "And stepping back and seeing other people do other movies and then kind of noticing, I was like, 'Wait, that's what I love to do.'"

"I hope that my love for acting shows through a lot and people really see that and I hope that they enjoy the portrayal. You know, I did the best that I could and I hope that Elizabeth's happy from watching up above," she added.

Lindsay also has another movie, an independent film called "The Canyons," in the works. The project's screenwriter is "American Psycho" author Bret Easton Ellis. The actress can also be seen in "Scary Movie 5," along with Charlie Sheen, who went through his own personal and substance-related turmoil and even had a meltdown in 2011. Lindsay told "GMA" she is "reading scripts every day."

"I just want to keep calling my agents and like, 'Just keep me on set. It's safer that way,'" she said, adding: ! "I'm in a! great place. I just want to move forward, keep working."
