WENN reports that Lohan was so keen to be a part of the project when she first heard of it, she told producers she could do without pay as long as she got the role.

At a screening of Liz & Dick in Los Angeles on Wednesday (November 14), Lohan told reporters: "I didn't get the project at first. I started calling and harassing agents... because I felt people were hesitant [to cast me], which I understood.

"I actually said, 'I'll just do it for free'. My agent was like, 'No, no, no, don't say that'."

Previews of Lohan and co-star Grant Bowler have been released, depicting the young starlet in Taylor's trademark diamonds.

Larry A Thompson, producer of the film, has said that critics will be surprised by Lohan's performance.

Liz & Dick is scheduled to premiere on Lifetime on Sunday, November 25.
