Lindsay Lohan has reportedly decided to admit to violating her probation in order to avoid jail time.

The Mean Girls actress is allegedly prepared to concede that she defied the terms of Judge Stephanie Sautner's sentencing in her misdemeanour theft case by failing to complete community service at Downtown Women's Centre in Los Angeles.

Lohan instead performed the required 360 hours at the American Red Cross after pleading no contest to stealing a $2,500 (1,559) necklace from a California boutique in January.

Judge Sautner revoked the 25-year-old's probation at a court date on October 19, stating that "no-one has the power to change my sentence".

Under guidance from her lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley, Lohan will attempt to appease Judge Sautner at a hearing on Wednesday (November 2) by stressing her respect for her community service sentencing, TMZ reports.

Lohan has so far logged 24 hours at an LA morgue in preparation for her defence, more than the 16 hours required. However, she was also turned away from the building earlier this month after arriving 40 minutes late for work.

Lohan faces a minimum prison sentence of two weeks if Judge Sautner decides that she violated her parole, but could be jailed for more than a year.
