Lindsay Lohan again pokes fun at legal woes on 'SNL' appearance
First there were the self-deprecating promos for her "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig, in which Lindsay Lohan poked fun at her legal troubles in Los Angeles, and then there was her actual appearance on the TV show, which is getting mixed reviews in the blogosphere.
Touted as her show business comeback after making more appearances in an L.A. courtroom than in dramatic productions in recent years, Lohan's appearance on the New York-based show yet again made fun of her legal woes, including probation for stealing a necklace and driving drunk.
In her opening monologue, one cast member checked her eyes for dilation, another patted her down for contraband, and a third reassured her that actor John Hamm was on standby in case the notoriously undependable Lohan couldn't fulfill her hosting duties.
An alarm even went off when she tried to walk closer to the audience -- a reference to when she wore an ankle bracelet monitor during home probation in Los Angeles.
In a prison sketch based on the "Scared Straight" series, she played herself and talked about rehab.
Lohan, who is within weeks of completing the probationary requirements ordered by a Los Angeles judge for the actress' shoplifting and drunk driving convictions, told the "Today" show in an interview to air this week: "I had to get that wake-up call."
A Los Angeles judge told Lohan recently that her current legal troubles should be over by March 29.
"Miss Lohan, you're in the home stretch," Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told Lohan this month. "You seem to be getting your life back on track."
Lohan told the "Today" show that, despite her hard-partying reputation, she's "become more of a homebody. And I like that."
